Hello need some help and advice. Started car this morning and it was shaking when i put in drive started shaking more violently. I noticed squirrels had chewed the battery sheath thing. But didnt notice anything else. I bought a code reader and 6 codes came up po205 permanent and po354 permanent then the others were the same just pending. So i did more looking and i seen chewed ignition coil wiring. How can i fix this? What will a mechanic charge? Can i drive it a few miles to get to mechanic. Please help.

I'm not sure if that harness is separated or not. I think you could get away with finding a donor harness and splicing onto your existing one using the proper tools (solder + heat shrink).

If that harness is standalone I would then try to just replace the whole thing rather than splicing.

You can definitely drive it but it will miss fire and probably go into a limp mode. I use an ultrasonic pest deterrent because they are horrible around here.

The harness goes to other places besides the ignition coils so I do not think its standalone. Thanks for advice.

Don’t drive it misfiring. You can blow out your catalytic converters. I drive my Escape misfiring because I wanted to save the $75 tow. Ended up costing $1,500 in converters.

If you absolutely have to drive it, disconnect the fuel injectors for the dead cylinders. It will run like a limp dog and set a bunch of codes but your converters will be spared.

It's likely to take a skilled technician an hour or two or three to re-splice the harness. Perhaps, you can find a replacement harness, either new or used, that would simplify the repair.

Honda makes a tape you wrap the repaired electrics in, it contains peppers and is a rodent deterrent

So I had a mobile mechanic come out and replace the wire. He did that and codes kept coming up. Finally he got it so no codes came up and car seemed to run fine. As soon as he left i drove down my driveway and it started shaking again but the check engine light did not come back on. So he comes back and the wire he replaced was loose so he tightend it. Test drove around the block and everything seemed fine. He leaves,I get ready to leave to go to store and same thing happens this time the check engine light comes on. He is going to come back tomorrow to try to fix. Its definitly the wire because if i wiggle it it does the shaking thing. Im hoping he can fix , seems pretty simple . I hope I didnt call the wrong guy .
