I have a 97 Explorer XLT 4x4, 4.0L, sohc, automatic which occasionally stalls when slowing down to come to a stop.
The typical occurance is at a stop light. Just as you are about to completely stop the engine will quit and it feels as though it is a manual transmission in which you did not push in the clutch.
I just had the intake manifold o-rings replaced (thanks to this forum). Today I changed the fuel filter and cleaned the elements in the MAS. Tonight it stalled again.
It always starts up immediately and may not stall again for days. I appreciate any suggestions.
