Starter grinding

Sometimes when i start it up the starter doesnt engage the flywheel, it makes a loud gringing noise. When the clutch is out i can hear like a whizzing noise from the shift boot, when i depress the clutch it does away but when i let it out it comes back.

Could my flywheel have cracked? I read on a recent post that a guy had his flex plate crack.

I recently had the tranny rebuilt and had the flywheel ground, and put on a new clutch.

Also could this mess with my idle? Seems like when the starter began doing this my idle has been acting up.

It's possible you may have lost some teeth in the starter gear. I'd check the starter first before moving on to the flywheel.
