starter wiring

I bought a new starter for my '94 xlt, 4wd, auto trans. I went to swap out the oem with the 1 I just got(supposed to be from a '92 auto explorer). The oem starter has 2 nuts and a plug to fasten the wires, the "new" 1 has 3 nuts, no plug to fasten the wires. Can I strip down the wire on the plug and attach it that way or should I just get another starter? Please help with any suggestions, Thanks!

they had problems with the older solenoids on the starters so they went to the newer style the result is more positive starters that don't crap out as often.
