- 2000 explorer sport ohv
Good more morning peeps. I used the search function to help find results but I keep finding ohv to sohc and sohc to ohv information.
I have a 2000 explorer sport with a 5 speed 4x4 it’s a sweet little truck. Sold it to my brother in law and he blew the motor and ragged it out. I got the truck back and I want to fix it up.
It’s got the 4.0l ohv 8th number in the vin is an x motor.
I sourced a used motor with good heads guaranteed no bad gaskets and a 6 month warranty for 1000$ I know it’s a steep price but for the warranty and the guarantees I don’t care.
I am going to rebuild the old motor if the block is still good. I am sure the heads are cracked it hisses like crazy when it runs (will run for 1 min or so) also oil pressure doesn’t register.
For the donor motor should I buy a new radiator?
I am getting a new water pump, fan clutch, and thermostat. Is there any other parts I should put on new while the new engine is out? What hoses should I replace? I want to purchase all these at once and use affirm so I can do a pay by month thing and then pay it all off with my tax return before interest hits.
I also have the diy all data account and I plan on following that.
If anyone has extra tips I’d greatly appreciate it. I plan on tanking pictures of every part and videoing the routing of all cables and hoses as I take it apart so I have reference.
I know this has been asked if it bothers you I am sorry but don’t post that this has been asked just post links to other posts.
I work 75-80 hours a week and I really don’t have any extra time. I will be doing this while I eat my dinner between 8-11pm before I wake up at 4am to go back to work.
Thank you!!!
I plan on totally rebuilding the old motor new everything.
Any ideas on a source for heads I found some but they are stupid expensive. The new engine will eventually get a turbo charger.
