starting headaches

Here's the deal. When it is cold out, my 98 xlt starts and revs up and down uncontrollably until it warms up. Once it is warmed up it starts and goes to 1100 rpm and holds beautifully, I was told to replace the intake air valve and I did, but it is still happening.

Do a search this was just discussed a couple of days ago,I think your problem is covered under warrenty

Do a search under shakey cold start

Do you have the SOHC engine? If so, have you had your Manifold O-Rings replaced? There is an owner notification program that covers the rings and the cam chain tensioners - 00M12. Search 00M12 or O-Ring Replacement and you'll find lots of threads discussing your problem.
