Hey everyone. Lately I have been having problems with my electrical system and I was hoping someone could help me figure out the problem. THE PROBLEM: For the past 2 days, if I play my stereo for about 5 minutes with my truck, or if I even leave the door open for about 10 minutes with the truck off; the battery goes dead, and I have to jump it to get it to start. Also, even if I dont do either of the above things, and just start the truck, it will start really hard like it is not getting enough power to crank the motor over fully, but it still starts. The battery is only 4 months old, and the starter is about 6 months old. When I replaced the battery I also replaced all the wires that come out of the battery, and the wires that go to the starter. Im sick of jumping this thing all the time, I had to do it twice today and once yesterday. Does anyone have any ideas of what could be the problem?

Thanks,
Andy

it could possibly be that your alternater is not charging the battery properly. I would have that checked first.

The alternator is also only 4 months old.

take the battery back for a replacement it should be free if it does not do this when it is running it is making me think battery

The Battery could indeed by faulty, but several other things can cause the same symtoms. Did you work on your truck in any way recently? You could also have a parasitic battery drain which is draining the battery all the time. This drain is common for people that wire their AMPS off a switch instead of the HU remote lead. You need to put a meter on the battery running and not to see what kind of voltage it has.

I replaced the battery yesterday and it is working fine again.

Also depending on how much power any of the accesorys that you have installed are drawing from the charging system. It could be using more than it can provide thus robbing power the batt needs to charge
