Hello, Tampa_Moose here.

I recently put a new solenoid, battery (450 cranking amps), and starter on my Explorer V-6. It started fine for a few weeks, and then just the other day the starter would only click.

I replaced the starter again, but it still only clicks; what could my problem be?

Thanks! Tampa_Moose

bad ground on the starter, bad wiring to the starter, or a weak battery.

450 cranking amps seems pretty low to me.

Thats what i thought, I would go with at least 550 maybe even into 650 territory.

Check voltage at the battery while a friend tries to start the truck. If it falls below 10.5 volts then the battery is probably weak.

If it stays above 11 volts, start to look for loose connections and corrosion. You are loosing or dropping voltage somewhere.
