My 1991 EB 4x4 is has a strange problem that I've never really been able to solve. Sometimes it will not start. It turns over just fine, but won't actually start. If I disconnect the throttle position sensor, it will turn over three or four times, then start like a champ, everytime. Then I reconnect the TPS and go on normally.
It will almost always happen if the vehicle is hot (recently turned off, or been sitting on a parking lot in the sun, etc), it happens more infrequently when the vehicle is cold.
I've replaced the TPS itself. That seemed to help for a while, but the problem is back. I wondering if the problem isn't TPS related at all, and possibly removing the TPS just coincidentally allows the explorer to start? Or possibly a wiring harness problem?
Basically, I need an idea of where to start diagnosing this problem. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!
