static sound from rear speakers (Sterio newb)

hi, as the title says, i have minor static sound from the rear speakers (rear doors) in my 97 XLT. I dont think its blown speakers due to the fact that sometimes when i use another electrical device in the truck, the static sound goes away.

I'm guessing its wired incorectly or some sort of grounding problem, because a local guy wired it in for me at his shop because i bought the head unit from him.

Have you noticed that it happens more when on rough terrain? Does it sound more like a pop, a bag being crumbled, or a high pitched whine?

no, the terrain doesnt affect it, and its only a static sound.

it seems to go away/come back when i put electrical load(s) vehical (IE brakelights on/off, rear defrost on/off, etc...)

Sounds like a bad ground. You can pulled the entire bezel back out and make a new connection on the black wire. I am assuming that he used crimp connectors of some sort and not electric tape. Hopefully he used a wiring harness but either way check the following....

But once you get the bezel out(the radio and everything SHOULD come right out) Grab the black wire on either side of the crimp connector and pull apart from the sounds it will most likely slide right out. If So, reconnect and crimp properly and give it a listen.

Being you had it installed at a shop you could always take it back to him. Tell him the issue and he should know right where to look. Should this not work post here in the thread and I will have to pull mine and get a couple wire colors for you to switch.

Sorry to double post but I had to check wiring for another post and I double checked your issue as well. It is for sure the black wires that need checked. I made a loose connection at the primary ground on mine and got the same "static".

You may even need to run a new ground to the body.
