Well, I just installed my BEL Vector LR remote radar detector, and is it bad a$$. There's no way to tell that it's in there. The radar module is behind the fron grill on the drivers side. There are two laser modules; one by the rear view mirror, and one on the rear hatch glass. It said to mount them low, but it was too obvious in the midle of the lower windshield. Also, the back one couldn't go on the bottom, otherwise I couldn't open the hatch any more (cable in the way). The display unit is hidden in the ash tray. The ash tray has a little metal flap on top that slides out when you open the tray, and thats where I mounted it. It slides in and out of the way when you close it. Completely invisible. It's great. Let me know if anyone wants pictures. Adios.

DocVijay,
I am very interested in the Vector LR Remote Radar Detector. My father has been asking me to hardwire his radar detector in his Mercedes for months. Rather than just hardwire the current unit, I would like to purchase a remote detector and custom install it. Here are my questions:
1. Are you happy with the Bel 915? This is an old, discontinued model and I don't know if it has all the capabilities of new detectors. Bel claims that the 975 Remote will be released in April, and I don't know if it is worth waiting for more features.
2. I have found places online that are selling the 915 for $279. Do you think this is a good price? I am especially curious because Bel claims that the new 975 will sell for $600!!!!
3. Most importantly, how difficult was the install for this unit. Many years ago I installed a Uniden remote detector that consisted of only one radar detection unit mounted in the grill. The 915 includes two more radar units. Are there lots and lots of wires to run? How long would you say this project takes?

Thanks for your help. Hope the detector does what you want it to! Drive safely.
Steve

BEL Vector LR remote.

Sorry everyone. I've been offline (not by choice) since Monday. I'll get those pictures up soon. I paid $270 for the detector, and I looked around. The model I got was the Vector LR (similar to 915 but I'm not sure it's the same. I'll photo the box as well. It wasn't too hard to install. THe main radar sensor has one cable. Each laser unit has one cable. The only part that can be tricky is finding the right wires to get power from. A circuit tester works well. Liek I said, pictures tomorrow or Saurday.
