hey all, you guys helped me the other day with my brake switch of which i installed and it works.

now---for the last few days after that, when i try to put my shifter into R, it s really heard to get there without some jimmying with it. i push the brakes down and pull my shifter to the left of R and it will go in---eventually. there's no problem going to Drive after that.

and then, the turn signals don't work. and when i adjust my tilt sometimes the left signal starts working.

hmmmmm,is this a wiring harness inside making all this foul up?

about six months ago my left signal would not work for a few weeks without holding the left turnsignal bar down. just wondering if there is an easy way of fixing this? thx JW

now i just plain can't get in gear. i think i'm in big trouble. it won't even leave the driveway. is this a transmission problem or in the steering column? jw

sounds like the shift lock on the last instance. are you sure the brake light switch hasn't interrupted the shift lock switch at the brake pedal?

oh man,i don't know.i don't think so cause i didn't mess with anything else. how can i be sure? i don't have a manual with this truck yet. so i'm just not sure where to look or what it looks like.

i can't go to work tomorrow so it's a serious exploration. pardon the pun.

the service guy just told me the "shift lock switch" is for explorers with console shifting. he also said it could be the connector on wire harness end. anywho, he claims it would be around $100 to fix it---but not over $200. i sure hope it's all in the steering column.
