Ok...I am new here and I have a problem with my 1995 Explorer. The shift tube on the top of the steering column broke. I need to know what the procedure is to fix it. One mechanic said I need to drop the steering column to replace it, another said the whole dash needs to come out. I was also thinking if I could get to the tube I could Super Glue it back together. In the mean time I cut a 5" x 5" hole in the floorboard just above the transmission shift lever, popped the cable off of it and I just reach down through the hole and shift the transmission by hand. If anyone has had this specific problem and how they got it fixed let me know.
Thanks

You can replace the shift tube with just dropping the steering column down, No need to remove dash.
