i dont know which! if the pump is working youll hear it on full lock its a loud shhhh noise .im also fairly sure a rack would creak or groan badly if worn .may be change the fluid and see if there is a difference if you feel its still driveable safely in the meantime .if not have it checked out asap by mechanic .sorry not much help hope you sort it soon

thanks im going to change the fluid as it seams to be ok now and go from there

If it was shaking and just plain acting weird, try sucking the fluid out with a turkey baster, refill the resevoir to the "full" line. Have a helper turn the wheel all the way to the left and all the way to the right with the resevoir cap off. Do that 10 to 20 times back and forth. You should see air bubbles being purged from the system. If not, well, at least you know it wasnt something as simple as air in the system.

thats good idea ill try that im going to swap the oil anyway but ill try that 1st

Steering

Hi Simon,

Did you change the f/w/b?

If so and the hub etc hung down with the drive shaft etc its possible that the d/shaft is not correctly seated at one end or t'ther.

It happened when I last changed f/w/b on the Ex.

yes i did as it happens but i checked this morring with touque and was right but seams to be fine now

just one them silly things i think love the car boots

Hi Simon,

It appears to have re-seated itself. Can be aided by drivng backwards whilst turning etc.

Glad all Ok and your enjoying the Ex.

I note it snowed as soon as I parted with it! !

Mine did this once after having the front end jacked up. Scared the crap out of me the first time i went round a corner. It wanted to go straight on!!!!.

I managed to find a quite road and slowly went forward turning full lock to lock. After a couple of hundred yards it was ok again.

I think it must have drawn air into the system while it was up in the air even though I only turned the steering slowly, as advised, whilst it was up there.

Kev.

yeah must run be that seams all spot on now i got a new bearing as that one you got was worn to was worse as it happens lol 2nd stuff aint it risk u take but all right now
