Hello all,

When I steer quickly - like when parking - I hear a squeak noise that only occurs when the steering wheel is near the 3 o'clock or 6 o'clock positions. Do I possibly have a worn flex coupler in the steering shaft?

Thanks for the advice,
Dan

For me its not a belt. Its is the steering wheel. It does sound like a mouse.

Dont know what causes it

I forgot to mention that I have jacked up the front end with engine off, and turned the steering wheel - and have observed the same sound. Is it a flex coupling on the steering shaft, or possibly inside the rack assembly? It sort of sounds like a rubber to metal squeak...

Thanks for any ideas!
Dan

WELL... I found the mice. Actually, the source of the loud and irritating noise was from where the steering shaft passes through a rubber bushing-seal located at the firewall. I applied some white grease and the noise is no more!!

Thanks for the suggestions,
Dan
