Pardon my ignorance in advance if this is a stupid question...

I currently have new Monroe VST whatevers, and am replacing the front's with 9000's, but am wondering...

Can I use these, with appropriate bracketry for steering stabilizers? From the ones I have seen, they look the same...

If the answer to the above is yes, where can I find the bracketry?

Thanks again,
T

Anyone

Was it that dumb of a question?

I don't think so, I was contemplating the same thing. I have the stock shock sitting in the shed and was wondering if I could buy/make brackets to help reduce the pull/wandering of mine. If they won't work, I'll be posting them on the 'For Sale' forum. I'll check back later to see if anyone knows.

I don't recommend it...

A steering stabilizer cartridge is valved very differently than a shock absorber. The stabilizer cardridge is dampened 50/50, or equally in compression and extension. It also is valved to resist quick transitions (like bump steer).
A shock absorber is valved to provide more resistance on compression than on extension and will absorb quick transitions. Also, the total travel length of the steering stabilizer is very important and may not be the same as a shock.
You might be able to hook the shock up as a steering stabilizer but it will not benefit your steering and could be dangerous.

Thanks Wabbit, guess I'll be selling the shocks..:D

Re: I don't recommend it...

Thanks a llot wabbit...damn, thought I had a cheap alternative to buying one...

Anyone got a steerign stabilizer for sale cheap?

Tommy,
Try JC whitney, Im satisfied with the one I purchased thru them and it was cheap. I think (dont quote me on this) that theirs are unlabled Heckethorns marketed by Rough Counrty.
Also its not a real noticeable improvement, BUT I took it off just to verify that it was actually doing something and then it became very noticeable.
Regards,
Doug
