Can anyone help as to what would cause a vibration/chatter in my steering when turning the wheel to the left or right, when I'm sitting at a stop? Thanks so much.

Did you recently have any work done on the truck? What you describe sounds like the typical power steering chatter caused by air in the system as a result of the steering being turned while the engine is off.

Start the truck, slowly moving forward or reverse turn the steering lock to lock (L to R) three or four times. That should purge the air and remove the chatter.

Yes, the fuel pump went out.... had that replaced and noticed the chatter after that. It's not real bad... it's more noticeable when I'm at a stop & try to turn. I'll give your suggestion a go & see what happens. Thanks.

plus 1 on that. Every time I have an explorer in the shop it does that, and on every one of them it goes away.
