I've always chalked up the steering wheel wobbling back/forth when braking to warped brake rotors. I had it in the shop to get the brakes checked and they told me that yes, they need replacing, probably have about 10% life left. But they also told me the upper/lower ball joints need replacing.

Is it the worn ball joints that are causing the wobble and not the rotors?

well the wobble is more than likely caused by tire cupping which is caused by the worn ball joints/poor alignment. Fix the ball joints get it aligned and rotate your tires, your truck will probably ride like new, although depending how bad the cupping is after rotation you may have a humming from the back tires (which were rotated from the front)

Update on that issue 2fs?

I believe it was the ball joints, but I just sold it as is, so don't know what it was for sure.

So what did you get?

I was given an '02 Grand Cherokee. The explorer was my wife's, so she's driving the cherokee now.

well I guess we'll still love you without the explorer :D
