alright.

if i put 6" springs on the front of the ex and soa in the rear (which i plan on doing FAIRLY soon), what all parts/ components will i HAVE to have immediately.

What i mean...
what are the parts i need to get, but that i could still drive (to work and such) for a month or two before getting.
And what parts do i have to have to be able to drive it.

I.E. - 4wheelparts has a pro comp pitman arm w/ a 4" drop for $56 shipped. do i need this when i do the lift or will i be able to drive without it?

And, for spring perches for soa, are there already perches on the bottom i could have welded on top, or ???

Thanks Guys!

I am gonna do my best here....

If your gonna run the 6in springs then you gonna need the drop brackets , Extended Brakelines Extended Shocks and yes your gonna need a drop pitman arm too and drop swaybar brackets.

Are you planning on buying a kit or trying to piece this lift together?
if you are doing it piece meal IMO i would wait till you have everything before putting anything on since just putting on the springs only would messed up the alignment so bad you would probably not be able to drive it.

as for the SOA perches are cheap so you better off just getting new ones as opposed to trying to cut off and reuse the old ones.

ranger x has the front springs and shocks i'm going to try and buy from him.

okay, what's the diff. between drop brackets and drop swaybar brackets? and what site has these & the brake lines for a good price?
And where do i get the perches for cheap?

i guess i should have said Axle drop brackets and sway bar drop brackets

you have to drop the whole axle to maintain the geometry and sway bar drop brackets lower the sway bar down.
and you can find the brackets at places like 4 wheel parts but there gonna be expensive better off looking around here or on other boards for used lift kits for sale.

as for SOA perches here ya go
http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=DCC-4120074&N=700+115&autoview=sku
avail for 12.88/pair cheap enough for ya?

oh cyber, i forgot...

the reason for this thread is my g/f is bying me 33's for a late christmas present (merry christmas, btw) and the shop is giving me a great deal. free mounting, balancing, and alignment & a discount on the tires. but i have to buy the tires by jan. 10th

so thats why i need to know what i can wait for a little bit to put on.

alright, just bought the perches on summitracing

You NEED everything he listed. Ill break it down..

To lift the front 6" you MUST have
Springs
Axle Drop Brackets
Extented Pitman Arm
Sway bar drop brackets
Extended shocks

For the rear you need
The spring perchs, remember your gonna need to weld them.

Usually you can find complete kits around here, it just depends. But there is no way you can lift the front 6 inchs with out drop brackets. Your best bet with 33's would be to go with a 3 inch body lift (150 bucks) and f150 spacers or 2 inch coils for the front. Then for the rear just some shackles. This is a cheap way to fit 33's and could hold you over till you wanna go bigger.

....the only things i would add to what jtx listed woud be longer radius arms and new coil buckets like off a bronco or f150 while you are installing the rest of the parts...if you look in my project X thread you can see most of the items he listed in the pictures of my X...if you need some pics, let me know...;)

BTW - if you don't get extended radius arms you can always get drop brackets for the radius arm bracket... but I would prefer longer radius arms.

If you are looking to buy stuff on forum you can always buy stuff that your'e missing off Summit or 4Wheelparts ---->

I did... and now have a nice 6" lift in the front and SOA in the back.

or you can just buy 5.5" Superlift on 4wheelparts for like $1150.00

they offer 10% off now and free shipping... :D

yeah, i've bought a couple parts while they've had that sale. I don't have a grand to spend on a lift.

so far, with shocks, front springs, and new leaf perches - I'm looking at $170 or so...

I guess i just need to know where to get the axle drop brackets and sway bar brackets for fairly cheap. it doesn't seem like anyone has any on here to sell.

BTW, are radius arms (or drop brackets) and the f150 buckets a necessity right when i do the lift, or can i drive for a few weeks without them?

Dont forget the extended brake lines. Two for the front and one for the rear.

Why not ask the guy who is selling the tires if you can pay for everything and just come back when you are ready for mounting?

You can't just install some parts of the lift and keep driving till you get the rest... you put your truck on jackstands, take the front end apart and start putting it together. You do need extended radius arms or drop brackets in order to drop the front 6". You can't do it by installing just the springs and dropping the axle. Do your homework first - don't rush. Lift will not be cheap - $170.00 is nothing - you are looking at at least $500.00 if you buy stuff used... and not too many people will sell it that cheap.

I spent well over a thousand on my Skyjacker lift even while buying stuff from other members...

Lift, shocks, rear lift, extended brake lines, new alignment bushings, dropped pitman arm... plus install and prey nothing else brakes while you install your lift... what if you need new ball joints, brake lines, shackles, bushings, bearings etc...

do your homework first... 'cause it sounds like you don't really know where to start.

alright, the shops gonna let me buy the tires and they're gonna keep em there til i'm ready to put them on.

got the soa perches in yesterday. still lookin for the drop brackets. I've got an extra $60 or so to spend right now. so I am thinking to get the drop pitman arm on 4wheels parts while it's on sale for $56.

My question is, i take it $56 is a good deal, but the only pitman arm they offer is a pro comp w/ a 4 inch drop. will that work with 6" lift or is it too short? and if it is too short who sells one long enough?

prices i've found:
4wheelparts has the superlift sway bar end links for $37
radius arm brackets for about $120 a pair
nd axle pivot brackets for $108
an eBay store has full brake line kit (2 front & 1 rear) for 6" lift for $107

so, not as expensive as i thought.

alright i just bought superlift sway bar bracket kit on 4wheelparts for $37.79.

i've gotta go to the banl and call my credit card company to see if i have any extra money to buy any more parts on the last day of their sale.

Depending on the springs you are using, you don't need sway bars. Mine have been off for 3 or 4 years now and I have never really noticed. I have the Superlift coils up front and they are stiffer than the others so that made up for it. I still have them hanging in my garage with the drop brackets just in case I go to softer springs. On the other hand, if you have a body lift then forget it. If you do try it, just take it easy to see if it handles the way you like. I chased a guy that hit my dog once and got my tires to squeal going around a corner. That was really pushing it though.

well ive already bot the sway bar brackets. so if it gives me better handling i'll keep them on.
it's hard getting used to switching back and forth between a car with less than 5% body roll (that can take the curve of an interstate on or off ramp, for instance, at 80-95 without much of a problem) and a truck that will roll if you turn it too hard and too fast.

Yea my Jetta VR6(wifes car) is like that. It has beefed up suspension and runs Z rated tires. I don't have a problem switching cars, because when I get in thwe VW, I know I can have a little fun. I spent a while now babying my truck because the trans was on its way out.

alright new question.
I know i can squeeze some 4" lift parts into a 5.5-6" lift (shocks, pitman arm, etc.). Questions is how safe is it to use axle pivot brackets and radius arm brackets for a 4" lift (tuff country)?
