still no reverse

No one answered my original post on here about the problem with my Ex
So her is what I did .
I changed the filter and trans fluid on my 94 ex . The guys at
advance auto did not know what type of trans fluid to use . The repair
manual says "mercron' . They do not make straight Mercron no more .
It says Dex / Merc . Mercron v . etc on the bottles . I put Dex / Merc in it .
Still no reverse . Drive works good .Can any one tell me if the vacuum diaphragm controls the reverse ? or is it for forward only ?
I have checked the hose and its good If I dont figure this out in a week I will break down and take it to the arm and leg tranny shop .

Not really an answer to your main issue, but for others and future reference, the Ford recommended fluid is now Mercon V. The vacuum modulator gives the trans feedback on manifold vacuum, an indication of engine load and throttle position. I don't think that matters to forward/reverse gear.

But, I am no transmission expert. I only know about the fluid by using the wrong kind. BTW, once I knew the right kind, I went to my local Orielly's (the staff and I have become friends of sorts) and I asked each person there which fluid to use. They all got it wrong.
