I am running a MTX TE801D Amplifier hooked up to a Alpine Type-X in my 94 explorer...i used Stinger 4 guage power wire, and my battery guage jumps at high volumes even when i am driving, and the sub will clip when at high volumes. i was told that that was due to not enfough power going to the amp....i purchased a used Stinger SP800 dry cell stereo battery. When i was hooking up the battery, i just took the power wire out of the amplifier and hooked it up to the pos terminal on the stinger battery, and then ran a cable from the pos term of the stinger to the amp. i have noticed that there is a little less jumping in the battery guage, but the sub still clips at high volume. im trying to get the most out of the sub (the amplifier is only 3/4 turned up). is there something else i should be doing? im thinking of upgrading the ground wire around the alternator and batt, but i dont want to burn it up.
