I checked the three stickies in the forum and ran a quick search for "bypass" and "amplifier" but didn't come up with anything on a quick thread scan so I decided to post.

I'm upgrading/replacing the stock system in my 91 explorer. When I got it, it didn't have a stereo in it but I got one from a parts truck and it worked, even though the speakers were blown..

I replaced the speakers today and checked, and the factory headunit still played.

got a stereo and adapter harness (from walmart) and hooked it together but all I get sound from is the subwoofer??? only reason I can think for this is that the sub is connected straight to the headunit via the RCA's....

Um, my harness has that 8pin square connector and on the instructions its got a black/white stripe wire that says "amp ground"?? I hooked this to the black ground wire and nothing...I touch it to frame and nothing?? am I missing something??

if not, does anyone have the schematics for the factory amp behind the passenger quarter panel so I can just bypass it all together??

oh and here's what I did for speakers by the way:
