Should I rewire the speaker wiring of my explorer?

I had the premium system...so the wire that was going to the amp from the HU is really high guage stuff, only ment to handle the signal to the amp. Is that wire big enough to handle my 50Wx4 HU?

If I need to rerun wire, what guage should I use, and where should I run the wire?

I don't want that stock wiring screwing up my SQ!

thanks:(

You are fine with the stock wiring, the 50x4 watts HU only really puts out 20-25 watts RMS and the general opionion is that anything less then 75 watts RMS is fine for the stock wire.

I don't know man...I rewired my speaker wire after I installed new speakers and a headunit...and I couldn't stand the way it sounded on stock wiring...and I have a '99 Sport...

Such a big difference with new speaker wire...best thing I would say though, is install whatever you got with the stock wiring, see how you like it, if it needs to be replaced, then obviously go ahead and replace the wiring. New wiring allows louder, crisper, sharper sound quality and higher volume levels. But I guess it all depends on how much of an audiophile you are.
