Storage area behind the rear seat.

hey everyone, this is my first time in a forum like this so bear with me if I screw up. I want to remove the panel behind the rear seat of my '04 sport trac xlt, am able to access the bolts/screws behind the sliding panels but when I attempt to unscrew them they just turn free, is there a trick or am I just stupid?
