Does anybody have a straight pipe on there Explorer. Does it make a difference in performance and sound. I was also wondering what is the biggest size in throttle bodies. Please help me out. Thanks.

I ran a straight pipe for about a week after installing my headers. It is TOO loud (at least for my taste). I couldn't leave my house at night without everyone's lights coming on and dogs barking throughout the neighborhood...

Why in the world would you want to do that??? Apart from a straight pipe being obnoxiously too loud, you are setting yourself up for some really major fines for tampering with the emmission system on your car. It would make renewing your registration impossible. Explorers started out in '91, and even back then emmission standards were fairly strict. You also risk the possibility of making your rig run even WORST because all the emmission systems are computer controlled and integrated into the overall performance of your system. Depending on how old your Explorer is as well, you could kiss what ever warranty you have good bye. Bottom line is that this is also a very environmentally irresponsible thing to do...and for what?
