I drove a 200 mile straight drive Saturday. It was a 85 or so sunny humid FL day. I was doing about 75-85 for almost all the 200 miles with the ac on. At about 175 miles in the truck started to act like it was shifting in & out of overdrive at 80mph. It would only do this every few miles. I lived with it. Once I got off the HW though, I couldn't get going in 1st. I'd press the gas & the truck would barly move. I thought oh no tranny, but the RPM's wouldn't move either then the truck would catch & I'd be fine. This happend for about 10 miles untill I got to where I was going. I parked & the truck sat for 2 hours, then I had to drive back 200 miles home. I kept my speed at 75. The truck was fine the whole drive home & is still fine now. I scanned the computer & had no codes. It was really strange. The tranny shifts fine, doesn't slip, the fuid is fine. It was serviced less then 1K miles ago. Truck has only 79K miles. 94 XLT.

The only thing I did do was install a KKM intake thursday. I never pulled the battery. Could that have something to do with the problem I had? Any ideas?

You need to pull the battery to reset the computer. Did you plug the vacuum line that went to the Bimetal sensor in the stock air box?

I have read tons and tons of post(not on this board) that disconnecting the battery is a waste. The ECU will adapt to the new mod just fine it will just take a bit longer. I didn't want to disconect it cause my radio & such is a pain to set back up. But yes I did plug the vacuum lines.

Agreed on the computer, pulling the battery resets it, otherwise it will gradually adjust to the increased air flow. If the truck was working fine prior to the KKM then I would assume it (in some way) was contributing to the problem. I have read of others having similar problems. They swapped the stock air box back in and confirmed the problem went away. So if its running ok now then no worries.
