Strange A/C problem

hedgehog,

if you have a scanner or have ford do it. capture the A/C PID while your are driving to see if the compressor is turning off on light accel. it should turn off momentarily on WOT.

do you still hear the blower motor??

you can check for ground at the PCM Pin#14 Wh/Bn wire during light accel (when your A/C is cutting out) if you have ground and no A/C check at the A/C compressor relay for ground at pin #2 same color wire. if you don't have ground then the PCM is cutting it off for some reason.

Thanks for the tip Mr Jones,

Yes, the blower motor still runs and I can detect no change with the system apart from the change in the temp and humidity of the air.

One thing though, mine does this at any throttle setting when pulling away. Ford say it's by design and it happens every time the computer senses first gear and moving from a standstill when the air temp is above a certain value. I could understand if it happened with a large throttle opening or if the engine was under a heavy load but not every time.

Success Achieved from FORD

:)After expressing my concerns to Ford through Gene Evans Ford in Union City, Georgia for 412 days ,I finally went to another dealer, Mike Fitzpatrick Ford in Newnan, Georgia.

I know, I should have done this earlier.

Success was achieved 413 days later - really got to love Ford's customer service.

OK, here goes - I had mentioned earlier that on my first trip to Gene Evans Ford they stated on their invoice that the mechanic reprogramed the PCM and TCM. Well it turns out they did not.

The A/C mechanic at Mike Fitzpatrick Ford fixed it on his first try. He told me the PCM and TCM had not been reprogramed as it still had the old series in memory. He reprogrammed it according to what the Hot Line at Ford told him to do and it's working perfectly. He said the Hot Line told him this was the fix for this problem and it worked.

I can only suggest you go back to your dealer and get him/her to reprogram both the PCM and TCM.

I want to thank everyone for their replies and suggestions. The last ones were close to the mark.:)
