Trying to figure out why my fuel pump isnt working. came across a box under spare tire. says gas in it. some wires are cut. could this be why the fuel pump wont turn on?

That is your charcoal canister that soaks up vapors when the car sits. Won't affect the fuel pump. I bet you have a check engine light from those cut wires.

guess that means i need a new fuel pump. know where i can get one cheap?

What's the history of the vehicle, was check engine light on the whole time you owned it or was there some off-roading or road debris that tore up wiring recently?

I'm just saying that whatever caused that could damage fuel pump wiring too.
