Hi all:

Recently, my left turn signal started blinking rapidly, so I replaced the rear bulb (I could see the front was working). This did not fix the problem. I started fiddling with things a bit, and noticed the following:

1: The left rear brake light doesn't work either (even with new bulb).

2: I can put slight forward pressure on the turn signal stalk, and the turn signal blinks at the normal rate, but the rear bulb still does not illuminate.

3: Emergency flashers function normally (both sides illuminate and blink at correct rate).

4: Sometimes, while driving, if the steering wheel is turned, during certain parts of the wheel rotation, the left turn signal blinks at normal rate. However, there is no pattern to this - it's random.

I'm thinking its a loose connection or worn contact inside the steering column. I've misplaced my CD service manual, so I have only a vauge idea where to start searching for the problem. I'm hoping someone has had this happen, or can suggest something else to try first to resolve this. Please help!

Thanks in advance,
John.

Might be you multifunction switch. (Turn signal, headlights etc. stalk.)

It is a very common problem for the Multifunction switch to go bad. There are tons of threads about it on here and a write up on how to replace it yourself. More than likely this is your problem.
