so, I was driving around with my half installed message center (still havent run the 4 signals to the engine bay, flow, oil temp, other oil thingy, and window fluid) and I noticed a strange issue related to the trip mileage.

the mileage reads just fine when the engine is COLD, but when I park somewhere and start back up, the mileage doesnt read.

I can only imagine the MC is pulling this from the VSS and the cluster still works fine. this has happened on the 98+ and 95-97 versions (yes I finally have the 95-97 to correct the 40mph problem)

the only path I can see is to check my splice into the VSS and to make a better ground. I'm thinking I'm going to run a 14 guage wire to the battery negative (best ground on the truck). and maybe if it's hooked to the wrong GEM wire for the chime it could be confused... or it could be confused not having the flow, so I ned to run those too.

any ideas?

fixed it, turns out the blue crimp splices I used are too big and it wiggled loose.
