I was woundering if anyone else has had this happen.
I had the timing chain, gears, tensioners etc. replaced about a month ago. And ever since I have been hearing a single knock/ping noise. Sounds just like when the engine and/or convertors are cooling down. It had done this before the work, but now it does it when the engine is off, when its on at idle, while driving, warm or cold. It only does one knock, but there is not any pattern at all. Its driving me nuts.
Any advice would be great!

Not to take away from the original thread or anything, but the topic title works for me too and I didn't want to double post the same topic title.....

I had my trans worked on about a week and a half ago, and ever since I've had this groaning noise coming out from the rear end somewhere like when I'm slowing down or going between like 10 and 25 mph. It's really loud and has me worried about something that might be wrong under there. The ford guy took a ride with me today and said it sounds like a differential bearing. Does that mean anything to anyone? Thanks..... sorry for adding to your thread CaptKirk....
