Strange Rattling Sound

I was sitting there at a light today when I heard a strange noise, muted my music, and rolled up my windows. At first it was like a squeeking sound, like a squeegee on a just slightly damp surface. Not long after that sound I started hearing a rattling sound, like something was scratching my exhaust pipe. It sounded like it was coming from the passenger side of the vehicle, I'm thinking maybe the cat has some pieces rattling inside of it. Any diagnoses for these problems? The cat is stock and right now I've got about 85k miles, I know I read when they start going bad they'll lose pieces that'll get stuck in there.

Or rock/other stuff caught in the heat shield?

Found the problem. It was actually the exhaust pipe hitting the rear anti-swaybar link post. I fastened it tighter and so far it's been fine.
