I have a 91 X that has just recently started giving me problems. It has about 193,000 on it and right now what is happening is when I get above 20 mph or so and then come up to a stop and hit the brakes, as the X comes to a stop I can feel a vibration coming thru the floor boards. It is not a brake issue they have all been recently replaced. As I proceeded to look under it I can see that it appears that the rear pinion seal is leaking. Is this going to cause a problem like this? Or is that just another problem that needs fixed along with this one. I really would appreciate all the help you guys can give me. I love the info on here. Thanks alot!

Keith

anymore info you can give us? a vibration could be a lot of things... off hand if its a hard stop it might be play in hte ujoint on the rear shaft....

The only other info I can give is that I was under the car and there really seems to be no play in the U-Joints....I know it is tough to diagnose, but it is just like I can feel it vibrating right under my feet on the floor. And plus there is a definate sounds that goes with it. I mean I can hear it when the windows are down. I would love to give more info but I just cant think how else to describe it.

im now thinking tire balance or out of true tires... have these issues been addressed? aslo what kind of tires are they and what is there tread condition?

I have Continental Contitrac SUV tires on it right now...the tread and everything seem to be just fine....but I am open for any suggestions...

we sell those tires at work, they arent that great.....
how is there balancing? have you tried rotating htem to see if the situation improves? aslo what about you wheel bearings?

I will have to try rotation and then balance....I have not done anything like that yet...I appreciates the help!

Well so far nothing is helping me yet....I am wondering if it could be a wheel bearing issue...I am going to be looking at that today....any more advice is appreciated!!!

I got the same problem

While stopping around 5 mile/hr my truck starts shaking until I step on the gas. It only does it once in a while. Have you found out what was wrong? Or does anyone have any ideas. It just starting shaking a couple of days ago. No mods, still have stock tires and I changed my brakes about 6 months ago.
