Does anyone know of a company that makes a strong front bumper/winch mount for a '92 Navajo/Explorer? I'm talking ARB strong. ARB does not make one.

well, I had that same dilema once before. At the time I decided to go with a Smittybilt tube winch bumper. They say it's rated only 5000 lbs but mine after a few minor mods was able to handle a Ramsey ProPlus 8000 winch and to be honest . . . - . . . it got me out of many "holes". It worked great. I was even able to install some light brackets. Anyway, the entire thing didn't cost me more than $400.00 including bumper, winch plate, sandblasting, welding reinforcement brackets and finall painting. Ask Pete (RFR2212)..... he bought the truck from me....

good luck. - check around for best prices before making your decision.

Thanks Dre,

But I think I'll keep looking. I would rather not have to do any mods to a new bumper. A friend with a Toy Runner did the same as you. It works great with soem mods, but still a little weak.

weak? this baby was going through the woods like a tank....... hit the rocks many times..... winch pulled me out of many mud holes without any damage to the bumper or the winch. Nothing. I think this was one of the strongest bumpers I ever had on a truck.....

Haha, it's tanked! It looks to me like Dre's "mods" to the bumper were a few extra metal straps, and a cross member on the frame... That thing aint goin anywhere... The only mod I'm gonna do to it, is repaint, and probly herculine it come summer...

i am not sure if it has come out yet... but www.jamesduff.com had a winch one for the early Xs that said availale soon

found it

#7821 Winch Mount Front Bumper, Bare 89-90 Bronco II,
89-92 Ranger, 91-94 Explorer $395.00, 7821PC $475.00, 7821AC $525.00

Doesn't TJM make ones for the '91-94 X? Others could comment more on their strength, but they do have some nice optional bars. They seem more expensive than others, but they sure look like they might be up to what you're looking for. Good Luck.

Yes, TJM does make them for the '91-94. In fact, I just sold my T-17 to one of the members here since I'm retiring my '91.

Do a search on this site for TJM and you'll find some sites for TJM bumpers. At one time, they discontinued but last I heard, they are being imported from Australia to the US again.

Yes, they are as stout as the ARB but in my opinion, my former TJM was much nicer and slicker. It also hold a Ramsey REP9000 with the roller fairlead.

Pete, that thing is not going anywhere..... there's also an extra bolt tying this thingy to the frame..... as far as Duff pre-runner winch bumper....... it was suppose to be out like beginnig of the year......... they did have it out but had problems...... too many complaints........ it's kind of tricky to get a pre-runner bumper strong enough to pull a beast like an "X".

ARB would be ideal but I even thought about boxing in the one I had from Smittybilt......

TJM at Desert Rat

Heres what I found when I searched TJM.
I bought Khoas T-17 :bounce: - but they dont even list it anymore in steel. The T-13 is really nice looking Ive seen it on a Ranger - I think hes on the RROC board.

so it's more or less just like ARB plus a bull bar..... nice looking, really nice looking. Expensive too.....

No Boundried knows of a place in Tenn I think that custom makes those style of bumpers. They tried to do a group purchase back in the day, maybe search it or, PM him, and he may be able to help!

This is the only USA authorized dealer to sell TJM Bull Bars. They are in Knoxville, Tennessee and they do have a T16 grille guard for 95 - 01 and T17 bumper channel (both aluminum) for 91 - 94. If you want the steel, I'm sure they can get it for you also.

Like I said, PM Moderator Tim, NoBoundries, and if I remember correctly, the bumpers at the shop he knew, were only about 400 or so, not 600 plus. I wanted to get one, money wasn't there, and when it was, it was quickly spent on other crap.
