With the reverse out in my 98 Explorer 4.0 4x4. I have been looking around for a replacement or a reman transmission. unless the unfortunate happens like my 95. I will be keeping this one. I don't want to be looking to replace the transmission again in XXXX miles. So is there a transmission that is stronger than the 5r55e in it. that will bolt up with little to no fuss. What about a 5r55s trans? will it bolt up to the 4.0?
I remember reading a few years ago that a C-4 will bolt to the 4.0 but have to use a C-5 bell housing? plus a C-4 can be built to handle insane power.
