Stuck at a gas station no power ahh help!

My truck is sitting at a Chevron station. Luckily my mom was around and she came and picked me up. Here's the situation, I put gas in, and when I turned the key on to leave, My radio clicked on, the starter clicked, and then everything died. Now I have no power at all. I ran a volt meter to the battery and checked all the fuses, everything seems to be ok. Even my hazard lights won't work. There is no power to Any part of the vehicle. Any help would be great as I was on my way to go 'wheeling and now i'm back at home

I had a problem like that with my old '93. The security system shut everything down, but I broke the key fob and couldn't turn it off.

If you have a solinoid on the fire wall near the battery it may be that! They go and you have NOTHING! I used to try cleaning the cables there before I would replace it! With the older ones I used to jump them from one cable side to the other to bypass it! I don't know ( because of computers and such) if you can do that tho! I would at least try cleaning them! It does sound like the solinoid, a BAD cable, or a BAD connection of some sort! Especially when you have nothing! Check your battery cables first!

well....we jumped it and it started. Means that somehow the battery must have got drained in the 10 mins i had it running? My dad blamed it on a drain coming off my amplifier. I really don't know what happened, I'm just glad It's running

If it happens again, take off your cables off the battery and clean them up....That is the most likely cause....

I had the same problem in my 92 and it was the alt. The voltage regulator went in it, it's a known Ford issue. Have the charging system checked to make sure it's putting out enough volts and go from there.

Agree. This is a symptom of a corroded/loose battery teminal. Had the same problem a while back.

I too had the same problem a few months ago. Pain in the butt problem, but easy to replace (for the most part)... hardest part for me was finding the replacment part at AutoZone.

I would go to dealer as the LAST resort. Try Autozone first. I think they let you test it out for free with their own Alt/Battery tester.

hmmm.... Don't think we have autozone's around here in Nevada. Would Kragens be sort of an equivelant?

Woow. No Autozone! We have one on every 10 blocks here it seems.

Well ask Kragens if they could test the battery and the alternator before deciding on whether you need any of them replaced.

they also do free checkups on the alt/battery system(atleast they do down here)
