I think my IACV is FUBAR. Lately the idle has been really low after I drive it somewhere then come back & start it, but yesterday it died at a stop light. I have cleaned it in the past, and that fixed it, but not this time. It has been whining alot lately, but now there's no sound. Also, when I unplug the IACV while the truck is running there is no change in the idle. Shouldn't the idle change? I just want to make sure it's the IACV before I go buy a new one. Thanks in advance guys.

Check for cracked hose

I'm not that familiar with the OHV V6 but before you buy a new IAC valve you may want to make sure the hoses connected to it don't have any cracks or leaks. Also, check the TPS output voltage at idle. It should be about 1.0 volts. If the PCM doesn't realize the throttle is at idle it won't command the IAC valve to the set idle speed.

There aren't any hoses to connect to the Idle Air Control Valve. That's a direct bolt on to the intake with a plug to it.

You had said it was whining? That would mean that it's done for. Mine made a whining sound after I cleaned it as well, kinda sounded like a po po siren :). I paid bout 50 something for mine and that was the expensive one, (meaning the IAC valve with the numbers ending in AA). The others are cheaper!
