Stupid mirror question

O.K stupid question. I just picked up an '02 xlt. Anyway, it did'nt come with an owners manual and i was trying to figure out what's up with the rear view mirror. As most of you know i'm sure, there is a button on the rear view mirror. I'm totally clueless about this one! As you must know as well, there are also two l.e.d lights on the mirror. Anyway, long story short, the light on the left of the mirror is always on , but the light on the right has never been on. Does this have anything to do with the button on the mirror? And what the heck is that button for anyway!?

It is the auto dimmer, green light means it is on the other one is a light sensor and the button turns it off. It defaults to on so if you turn it off it will turn itself back on when you restart you truck.
