"revised" stupid question about keys

okay i have a stupid question... just bought a beautiful 98 sport 4x2 on e-bay ... the truck was listed as having a lighted keyless entry system... the manual list a remote and it DOES NOT list that as an option but as standard equipment .. i contacted the seller
{wholesaler} and he feels that the remote was an option which was listed inadvertantly ... but he would check into that and get back to me ... do any of you have a 98 sport which did not come with the remote? ... this isn't a major issue between me and the seller as he has assured me that if it was to have one he would see to it that i got one ... but i want to know for sure one way or the other whether i should have a remote or not ... if there are those of you who do not have the remote system then i can accept the sellers explanation without any further discussion.... any input from the board would be appreciated... thank you

It should be a one key system.

I ahve to agree..... all the Explorers I have ever seen were one key systems!! You may want to have lock cylnders looked at.

I think you guys missed the point, I think he is asking if the 98 Sport had a standard REMOTE, for the keyless entry system.

And my answer is I believe that on Sports, it is a standard item. At least it was on my 2000 Sport!

Now the outside key pad on the drivers door is not standard, that is optional but comes it handy at times.

As I recall, if it has the keypad on the door, it should have come with a remote. I don't think they sold them with the keypad and not the remote. If you can't get a remote out of the seller, I think they are often on eBay for cheap.
