Abs light came on, I recenty replaced the front wheel bearings with built in new sensors. The one in the rear on the differential im pretty sure is what my problem is. When i took it out and cleaned it light turned off briefly. I ordered new one but it looked slightly different then the stock one. and of course i threw out the old one.

My problem is that the light is still on and the new sensor goes in and screws in but does not clip in there. there is no room under there to put weight on the sensor to push down. Its not going over the red rubber ring that im pretty sure it has to go into. How the hell are you supposed to get that in there all the way.

Where did you get the sensor aftermarket or dealer? There are 2 different ones that were offered. There is a tsb on them. They had 1 for the Explorer's rwd and 1 for the Explorer's, Mountaineer's, and Avaitor's with 4x4 and Awd. Make sure they did not give the one from the 01 Explorer's which is completely different. That one is fatter an I believe shorter where yours should be longer and skinnier. I think the part numbers are:

5L2Z-9E731-AA
5L2Z-9E731-BA

Can't remember which one is which though.

You may have gotten a F85Z-2L373-AA or BA which is for the diff sensor for 01 Explorer and down, Explorer Sport, Ranger, and Sport Trac. The Sport Tracs 01-05 use this number. The 02 and up Explorer's 4dr. use a different number.

Not to hijack a thread but my moms 04 has a abs code 33- 33 - Rear AxleSensorElectricalFailure
Is this the same sensor I need?
