Okay So I've been designing the box for new subs, and I've read and heard before that up firing subs lose quality which is what I want. But I also want to be able to use cargo shade to hide subs as much as possible. with the current bx design I can, but they'll be firing up. Does anyone know if it really makes a difference? The Sub I had before I blew it, is a firing up, and it sounded great. So is it really that big of a deal?

95% of the time it will not make a difference if subs are up or down firing, they usually wont sound any different either. there's an equation somewhere out there to determine wheter a sub is suitable for up/down firing that depends on cone mass, etc. sorry i don't remember where i saw that.

if you do think something doesnt sound right when trying a certain location or have the sub facing in a certain direction, that's what phase adjustments are made for.
