I was 4x4ing in my 92 explorer XLT and i hit a hole in the water, truck went in till about 4 inches from the roof, where it sat for about an hour, then someone else helped winch me out. I have gotten it running since then, I think the engine is fine but there are electronic problems with it. Almost everything works fine, except the from windshield wiper will not go off and it's also stuck in 4x4 mode and i can't get it out. when i try to drive it on the road in 4x4 it just grinds when i turn. I need to get it to a transmission place to have my tranny flushed before it rusts, but i really don't want to drive it on the road with all the grinding when i turn!! is there any way to take it out of 4x4 manually (the 4x4 button doesn't do anything)?

Remove the t-case shift motor (power window motor looking thing on back of t-case), and manually turn the t-case shift linkage to 2wd.
