I'm wanting to add a subwoofer but I don't want it to be seen. Getting a hold of a factory one is too much of a pain so I'm looking for one that will fit under the rear seat.

Does anyone know of any that fit under it well or should I just build a custom box? I want a sealed unit.

This is looking like a possibility but I think I could build a box cheaper.

Tech did you see the factory sub on here a couple weeks ago?

Make sure that will fit under either of the side seats or that you don't have the storage compartment under your middle seat. I am not sure how different the seats are if you don't have the 3rd row but I assume it should be slightly different.

No but I don't want to deal with changing all that covering out plus it has to be the correct color.

I don't have any kind of storage like that. My rear seat is a 60/40 split bench and it would go under the 60 side (passenger). I have measured and it can be 16" wide and 16" deep and 8" tall at the front and 4" tall at the rear.

Don't have 3rd row seat either.

I knew the explorers with only 2 rows had a different back seat but I wasn't sure how the setup was. I think that sub box would work fine. I think building one would be about the same price once you got all the materials and put the time into it.

I have spent many years infatuated by car audio and in my younger years had some monster systems, I would recommend that if you are using an enclosed housing that you make sure the sub will accept it, many need 'ports' of a particular flow and depth, if you miss match these you may end up choking the speaker. with the right speaker however an enclosed box can be phenomenal!

Ya I only like sealed subwoofers. Crutchfield tends to list the compatibility with sealed/ported on each speaker. Even my 12" home speakers are sealed.
