Based on your original post and the "latest symptoms", that shop has done "nothing"... it was suspicious before and its still so. It is highly unlikely that gas tank "stuff" is causing a "failure" on one side of your engine. Get the vehicle to someone that has proper live data information gathering AND knows something about Fords / engines.

I agree with going through the insurance co. I think in this case they'll be an ally.

small claims

If you can find a witness you can take the vandal to small claims and make them pay by sueing them.. i,e judge judy:(: Elbow

Since your insurance company is already involved inform them of what has happened now. Tell them you want whatever work that needs to be done to be done at a different shop. On top of that ask that they treat this as possible fraud and bill the final fix amount on the dishonest shop.

Your insurance company has an army of lawyers to take care of fraud like this. That's what you pay for so let them do their job. You might not have the clout to set this shop straight but they do.

Can you enlighten us in Austin which shop worked on this?

Well I FINALLY got the truck back today! Insurance covered it. I saw the old fuel pump and I'm not even sure what was in the tank! It didn't look like sand or sugar. All I know is I am NOT taking any vehicle back there or recommending them ever. It still idol a little rough but not near as bad as before. I'm thinking I still need to replace the EGR valve. Would that cure a "rough idol" problem?

Not to accuse anyone but folks here need to know when work was done right and when work was done wrong...

And it sounds like there are some questions this shop needs to answer on your vehicle...
