- 2002 XLT
I've got a 2002 XLT with a 4.6 modular. 100K miles. All is running fine right now (knock on cheap particle board desk).
No history of issues. Since new, I have done a fuel filter, battery, brake pads... and that's about it. It's driven by light-footed wife and daughter. Never towed anything. Allot of highway miles also.
On a intermittent basis, we have that delay going from Park to Reverse; it's a minor problem I think I'll ignore. I don't want to go poking around the tranny for such a small-beans issue. That would be inviting fate.
To the question: I was thinking of taking it into the dealer (I have a good honest, not too expensive one) for some preventative maintenance. What should I have a dealer do (and not do).
Is it worth replacing the timing chain?
Replace fuel filter?
Other?
On the other hand... maybe all I should do is keep changing the oil, and stay out of the shop until there is a problem. That plan has worked well so far.
