I had a 96 Explorer 4 door with sunroof. I have tried to open ,but it only lifts a bit, and when i release it gets stuck at the start, and simply dont open anything. The motor sounds good (since it makes to the lift position...). I want to open completely the sunroof. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks...

Welcome to the site. I'd climb on top while someone tries to open it from the inside and make sure the wind defelector is not broken and preventing the window from moving. It seems to be a somewhat common problem on the sunroofs.

From closed, push forward to lift the back. From closed, push backwards to open all of the way. Good luck,

Yeah, when i press with the arrows to backwards, it opens a little bit (like a finger, but it wont move after that. Ill try tomorrow climbing to the truck because today its raining. Any other thoughs will be appreciated. Thanks

So what happens when you push forward?

It lifts and let enter some air inside the car...

Good, the back should come up a couple of inches. You can probably do repair work with it up like that. Look for anything around the flap which may be broken. I haven't had problems with mine, but others have made threads about theirs. Good luck,

CDW6212R, section525, Thanks for the help...

I have checked the sunroof and i found some little cristals, like that my explorer was involved in an accident. Maybe some of them are blocking the way. Im going to check and i going to try to quit the roof and get out of there all that junk. Thanks again.

Ah, glass can get everywhere. Get a powerful shop vac, and a small hose which will fit in and around the sunroof. Good luck,
