Well I finally got my Powerdyne supercharger installed. It took 14 hours, 3 trips to the hardware store, and 1 trip to the autopart store.
Haven't really got on it as I didn't change the plugs yet. I don't really want to go over 2 or 3 psi with a .060 gap on the plugs

I do want to thank "rydinhigh" for his help, he provided me with some good instillation info such that it made the install easier.

Now to find some time to install the new fuel pump.....

I had my stock plugs for a few months before I put some NGK Iridiums gapped at .035. Sorry I couldn't be more help on the install, just been busy. Let me guess, you had a prob. with the fan didn't you?? As for the fuel pump, not hard at all, just make sure to wear safety glasses because you WILL get stuff in your eyes.

Yup, had to shave a few whiskers off the spacer....thought I was just about thru and then that added another hour or so.

I did the install at a friends garage where he had all the right tools...what a difference just that makes. Plus having 2 people do the install cut the time in at least 1/2. A couple extra pair of hands is much needed.

Didn't take any piks of the install, just a few at the end..will take some detailed piks and post.

Choppin, Did you have any problems above 2/3 psi with stock plugs? (pinging, missing)
What NGK # plug did you go with? Some people recommend the plug that came with the lightning...it is a iridium. (forgot the number

SC update

Well I changed the plugs last night to one colder and a gap of .035, that eliminated a bit of ping when I really trounced on it with the stock plugs.
Need to install the inline fuel pump and FMU as I drop fuel pressure at 3#'s of boost and above (from 64psi to below 60) definatly causing a lean condition, not good.

Can we get some pics on this :D

I need to upgrade my membership first and plan on doing that this weekend. In the meantime I will take some detailed piks to have ready for posting.

I can email anyone before then them just let me know if you are broadband or dial up as the piks will be rather large and if you have dial up I will reduce the size.

Murphy stirkes...
Installed the in-line fuel pump today and FMU but the fittings leak. No luck getting it not to leak, bought a fitting today to try but I have my doubts. Probuble going to have to go back to Ford and see if they can help.

I think once I get some extra cash, bigger injectors and a high volume in tank pump is in order....then reprogram the ECU.

YeeHaa

Now the SC install is complete!!! :)
Was able to fix the fuel leak with a new fitting (the original had what appeared to be an imperfection on the seat of the flare fitting)
I do want to neaten up the wiring a bit but it is compete.
Now at 1psi of boost the inline kicks in and provides adequate fuel supply right up to 6 psi. I can see the extra fuel in the fuel pressure gauge. Once it hits 1psi it jumps from 64 to 66psi and climbs from there for a peak of 72 psi at 6 psi of boost.......Not under boost there is no change.
Note this is a returnless system and the inline pump and FMU IS needed.
I don't know how lean of a scenario I had but based upon the drop in fuel pressure, I am sure it was enough to worry about.

I am very happy with the install overall, once I clean up the wiring a little it will look like a OEM install.

Thanks to everyone who has helped me to get this far.....

If anyone is considering a SC install and can afford it, it defiantly is the way to go! It is amazing the added power!

I will take some new piks this week and upgrade my membership to post them.

I am looking to do a s/c addition to my explorer, can you estimate around how much you paid?

The SC was $2695 right from a local Ford Dealer.
(didn't ask for a discount but should have)
$6 for misc bolts
$21 for the correct belt
$1 brass fitting (that was defective)

The misc costs will be reimbursed by the dealer (whether they like it or not)

Options:
$50 vacuum boost gauge
$179 Fuel pressure gauge
$50 Windshield piller pod

It comes complete in the box other than the wrong belt and 6 bolts.

An awesome kit!
Email me if you want some piks (kamper00@yahoo.com)

is it only for a 5.0v8? that seems to be the only one i can find. I have the OHC 4.0..

Yep, only for the V8.

Vortech makes on for the 4.0, or made at least. Not sure if they still do. Also BBK made a roots type charger but I think they discontinued it also.

Ahhh!!! Alright, thanks for your help, I will look around...

Edit to post above: i have the OHV not OHC...i got the shaft :(

Yes, I do have the 5L
BBK did make one for the 4L OHV that I actually attempted to install but got fed up with the process mid point. It was a pretty decent kit if they only took it a few steps further. You may still be able to obtain the kit, try superchargers online or proficientperformance...or even Ebay.
I would say that the install is actually a bit easier then the Powerdyne but it required many trips to the hardware and auto store from std hardware to special fittings for the FMU.
