Supercharger Installed!!!!!!!

Alec, since this was brought up again, I thought I might add a word of advice. That advice is to change the oil in the blower a lot. It helps it to last for a long time and is easy to do. I had to do it on my boss's Buick and the thing was about out of oil. So keep and eye on it.

really, i thought the oil in most superchargers was good for 6000 miles. in my daytona (which is a turbo) i have to change the syntheric oil every 2000 miles.

I mean the oil actually in the blower. Not the crankcase oil.

The M62 blower unit is supposed to be "non-maintenance". They say to change the oil every 100,000 miles or so.

Here's the new album with the S/C pics. Sorry the other ones aren't up anymore, but Photopoint went bust unexpectedly.

Still lookin good Alec. Any track times yet?

Just after I got it, it was 15.7 @ 87. Now it's about 15.4.

With N2O it's gonna be a whole 'nother story...:bounce:

someone replied to a msg about how this s/c isn't made to fit past the 97 OHV's, i am getting mine in early march, i talked to the dealers @ BBK, and they told me that it still works with the 98. i have a 98 sport, 5 spd with 3:45's, KKM kit, 70 mm MAF, 66 mm TB, and a JET ECU chip. also i have JBA headers being ceramic coated and sent with it. are you sure about the whole thing about not fitting the 98's? if so i am going to call them back. thanks... oh by the way alec, that si a pretty sweet set up that you have. we'll see what i can do about mine to. also if you are interested in getting a new cam, Vanir Technology makes one for the ford explorer OHV. they have an app for stock, and also one with a blower grind for around $250.00

hey

Hey fast... You have a setup just like mine. Ive been having some terrible problems pinging and what not... and I think I finallly traced it back to my MAS. I got a new stock one... and now it runs great. Have you been having any similar problems? Hmm

nick

Fast, the kit will fit on any 4.0 OHV, as long as you get the correct install kit and are ready for some minor install tweaks. Your 98 might have a returnless fuel system though. If it does, you'll need to convert it to a returned fuel system; not that hard.

nope, no problems

hey there flyguy, well i haven't had a single problem with my 4.0 ( knock on wood ), except for that fact that i can't get her to go as fast as i want her to, as quickly as i want to. $$$$$ i beat on her pretty good too, but she gets babied like a luxury car too. strictly premium gas, 3000 mile oil changes, new platinum plugs every 10000 miles, etc, etc....... if your problem continues, i suggest running premium for a few tanks if you aren't already. and don't go with companies like wilco and what not. i have seen a lot of gas stations that have the cheap gas prices, late at night when the tankers come to fill up the underground tanks, i have watched them take the 87 octane hose and fill up all 3 of the underground tanks ( 89 and 92 included ) :shoot: . my brother had a few fined, because he babies his GT mustang , and had the same problem. filled up with 92 only to find out that it was actually 87 octane. some of these morons will try to screw you. well sorry to steer from the question, to answer it no, i don't have any problems, but the pinging sounds like you might need to try a higher octane gas. they say to only run high octane gas with any chip upgrade.

This info is just what I was looking for. I am starting a 4.0 High Output fund for my '00 Sport so I can afford more go-fast goodies on it. Alec, I tried looking at all the links for pics of the SC build, but they all are gone. Do you have them hosted somewhere else? I would love to see how yours looked. I know this post is a few years old, but it still gets me excited to see what everyone has done with their Explorers.

+1 on the pics

Wow, talk about an old thread
