supercharger is installed!!!

with the 2.8 pully how uch boost are you expected to get. Also with the stock pully do you feel a considerable amount of power difference.

Just asking because for 2g's you get about 3lbs of boost, which means you have a hp gain of probably 30hp.

I am not tring to talk you down, I am just tring to see the hp->$ ratio.

Very nice install... I have the same engine and have been looking into forced induction. I'm just trying to figure out how did you connect the EGR tube, does the kit have extra copper tubing? Also, why could'nt you just switch the fuel rails and use the hose that came with the kit or do they fit only one way? Can the throttle position sensor wire stretch to where the TB is? Sorry to ask so many question, but it looks great.

Thank you, your curiosity is ok with me. The egr was a little tricky, on the 4.0 that this kit is designed for the egr tube is located somewhere near the drivers side. On mine is come out of the passengers side intake manifold. What we did is cut the egr at its highest point before it bends and put a copper 45 on it. Then we modified a peice of copper tube that came with the kit to bend around the back of the plenum. From there a copper 45 is directing is straight into the egr.
The factory fuel line is designed to attach from the rear. The new fuel rails will have to be ran from the front for clearance reasons on my 4.0. Also the upgraded fuel rail that come in the kit need to be plugged by the an8 ends that are included in the kit.
Your throttle position sensor will plug in just fine but, the idle air control valves 2 plug wires will have to be extended.

I am planning to run about 5.5-6 psi of boost. for each psi there is a general gain of around 7% over the existing rwhp. My mounty had around 225hp before all the sc. I am hoping to see about a 90 hp gain after it is tuned. The hp to $ ratio is around $20 per 1hp

What I might suggest since this is an Eaton M90 supercharger, is to get a multiple pulley system such as the ones offered for the GM 3800 supercharged V6 in the Grand Prix GTP, etc. This way you can "dial in" your boost with a simple swap of the pulley, rather than having to use a puller to pop off a pressed on one. You press on the hub, and the various diameter pullies just bolt to it.

A couple good places to look are www.zzperformance.com or their fierce rival, www.intense-racing.com Both places are very experienced with the M90 blower.

Much cheaper than a turbo. And much cooler looking. I had a 66 Chevelle with a pump on it, a Jimmy, and was getting about 5psi boost with it. Breakneck speed on a 327. I can only imagine the effects of boosting the 6cyl; response must be tremendous.

EVLSPL did you ever get to tune and dyno your explorer yet with the supercharger?

not yet. The supercharger that I bought off ebay from amyk4422 was faulty. My mounty has been sitting in the yard waiting for a replacement. I got my new one in yesterday that hopefully can get put on today.

It is, at a dead stop when at about 3/4 throttle it will launch pretty hard!

that sux. when you finally put the new s/c I defentl like to hear about the results. I am very anxuious to know what kind of number the explorer will be putting out.

truely awsome i want to do the same for my 02 xlt i have a m90 from my gmh 3800 engine its got a smaller pully 10psi on that engine can you tell me what else i need and a link where to get it they dont have much here in aus for the explorers

EVLSPL,
Setup looks great man,
I'd like to go that route too, but I've gotta wait till the extended warranty runs out ;)
Good Job!!

Ben

i saw the intake but other than that did you have to prep or modify any other part of your engine? ignition, exhaust, fuel pump etc?

sorry everyone, my internet has been acting up.
Jaydeedog- you need this site-http://candmnovelties.com/pages/page3.htm
jlr23402003- The fuel line, egr, maf, tps, iac valve, throttle cable, and Iac valve wiring have been modified. The ignition is stock and the fuel pump is too.

since my original post I have installed a 2.5" pulley, 1998 explorer sport thermostat housing and radiator hose. It moved it out of harms way looks a lot cleaner.

2.5  isnt that like 19psi

right now it is is about 6 pounds at half throttle. I am working on a methanol injection system right now let me really lay into it.

EVLSP

Looks great congrats.

Are you a little worried about the rest of your drive train? The rear end and tranny are not know for there longevity at stock power.

It is a little concern but, I am not one of those people that just punish a vehicle. I plan to get about another 60000 miles out of the tranny.

The 5R55w which is in your truck is a very stout piece. Take care of it (maintenance, band adjustment, etc.) and it will take care of you. I have personally switched from the 5R55E(stock) to a 5R55S out of a 06 Mustang with a standalone controller. This tranny can be very agressive.-j
