Would like to add a few more ponies to my stock 96 4 dr 4.0 XLT. Only have @ 70k miles on it and it runs great.

if you are going to supercharge it, you might want to consider a rebuild

You might consider putting an SOHC and get your extra ponies there. That might be just enough to satisfy your crave for horsepower. Supercharger on OHV does not jive together I've heard. More trouble than its worth.

There is quite a bit that you will haver to do to put a S/C on your OHV. I am in the process of doing just that right now. The S/C is the last thing that you want to put on there. Your are going to need all the bells and whistles. Intake, MAS, TB, Injectors, Headers, Fuel Pump. The kit that you are looking for is the Vortech for 91-94 4.0 OHV. A few mods to the Battery need to be made to get it to fit on the newer models. How much have you done thus far?

I haven't started as of yet, just beginning my research as to what route to go. Thanks for the replies so far, I appreciate them. Last year I rebuilt my vette's sb into @ 500 hp, do not want anything near this on the X, just a little more than 160 hp.

BOTH the Vortech and the BBK kits are designed to work with an absolutly stock engine. Buy it off the showroom floor and install a supercharger and drive away happy. I've installed many of these kits on OHV's from 92 all the way up to 00 on OHV's and made custom kits for SOHC's. Its not until you get into the later design of the returnless fuel system, like 98up, that you absoluty must get a MAF and injectors because there's no way to adjust the fuel to the amount needed under boost without them.

In a 96' buy a Vortech kit for a 91-94, get a thinner batery, and a MAF adapter plate for a cone filter and install it. Every mod after that such as TB, headers and such will only accent the power from the supercharger more. And like always a aftermarket chip from a good source, such as Apten, will help bring all your mods together.

Could I install this on my 99 explorer OHV? Ive been wanting to, but ive never heard of a supercharger for a V6...but i plan on getting the complete stage 1 & stage 2 V6 Kit from Explorer Express, along with flowmaster 40 dual exhaust......Would this be a good setup for some ponies?

You have a '99 OHV, DroppedKamelion? If you want ponies go trade it for a V-8 and save yourself some headache.
